Sauvignon Blanc
A versatile and flavorful white, the Sauvignon Blanc grape can be found in nearly every major wine-growing region in the world. With so much variety, the final wine flavors can range from grassy with hints of bell pepper, to bright and citrusy, to sweet and fruity. Originally grown in France, the two most famous areas are Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume (also the names of the French versions of the wines). In the 1970s, Robert Mondavi called his Sauvignon Blanc "Fume Blanc", a name other winemakers have also taken for their Sauvignon Blancs. The wines usually have less alcohol content than other whites such as chardonnay, and do not benefit from aging, so drink them young.
Pairs well with: Fish, leaner meats (poultry, pork), pungent cheeses, sushi, or vegetarian dishes

A White Wine for the Whole World - Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc grows well in so many areas of the world that it has become the standard for white wine. It is a crisp and refreshing wine, but additional flavors can vary greatly from each country from where the grape is grown. So with this type of variety in taste, how we figure out which bottles of Sauvignon Blanc to drink? How do we choose which ones to pair with meals? Of course these are rhetorical questions... Jo-Ann Ross, CSW is of course the answer and her passion for Sauvignon Blanc comes through brilliantly in this segment. One recommendation...watch the video and watch it one more time with a recommended glass of Sauvignon Blanc in hand!
