Malbec
Malbec is a red grape that originates from the Bordeaux region in France. It is a grape known for its deep red color, strong tannins, and a plum-like flavor component all of which contribute to its use in red wine (particularly Bordeaux) blends. In Argentina however, Malbec has become well known as a stand alone varietal and is identified as being the signature grape in the country.
Malbec typically produces a medium to full-bodied wine with distinctive flavor characteristics including blackberry, cherry and plum. The wine pairs well with red meats like roast beef, steak and prime rib as well as roast turkey, chicken and rich tomato sauced dishes.
